PATTERN – Piloting open and responsible Activities and Training Towards the Enhancement of Researchers Networks.PATTERN’s general aim is to promote the practice of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (Open RRI) by developing and piloting training activities for researchers at all stages of their careers.
These activities will strengthen their transferable skills, empowering Higher Education Institutions and research organizations to embrace a transformative process. This process will improve the excellence of the science conducted, the capacity within the European Research Area (ERA) to tackle societal challenges and the interaction between science and society.
Consolidation of knowledge – Systematic mapping and a comprehensive analysis of the state-of-the-art of learning opportunities for researchers on Open RRI.
Developing PATTERN training activities and platform: Identifying 8 main transferable skills in the context of open and responsible research: Open access, Research integrity, Management and leadership, FAIR data management, Science communication, Dissemination and exploitation of results, Citizen science, Gender, non-discrimination and inclusion in research.
Testing PATTERN training modules – During this phase PATTERN training will be co-designed and fine-tuned within consortium partners.
Policy recommendations and toolkits – Developing a set of policy recommendations addressing authorities and institutions responsible for researcher training.
Developing training modules on Management and Leadership, which training modules described in this outline aim to empower individual researchers to address institutional failures to i) protect researcher mental health (of self- and others) and ii) redress situations in which researcher mental health is adversely impacted. The training takes a problem-based learning (PBL) approach to developing, evaluating, and iteratively improving training content.
Provide early academics and researchers with flexible pathways for their professional development with coaching and courses taught by experienced and active researchers across Europe.
