Description

Identify your path to a rewarding career in research

Every researcher at some point in their career considers what will be the best option for their future. However, in most cases they do not have a clear roadmap with the steps to follow, nor enough criteria that should guide their path. This sometimes leads to demotivation, failure to achieve results and even, worst case scenario, to abandon research altogether.

In this workshop we reflect on the professional future of the research profession. The participants will learn different techniques and approaches that will help them to clarify how to design their career plan. The course methodology is based on the DOTS approach (Self-awareness, Opportunity awareness, Decision learning, and Transition learning).

Course Outcomes
  • Understand the importance of career planning to achieve the expected results.
  • Get to know themselves better by reflecting on key aspects such as personal mission, vision and values.
  • Be aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Know how to identify opportunities and threats to the research career.
  • Know the mechanisms to identify the available options.
  • Reflect on the criteria for decision making.
  • Design an action plan.
