Practicing integrated communication skills

What is your authentic research story and how do you communicate it? How can you create sustainable impact with your story?

Practicing integrated communication skills helps connect to the people you want to engage with. In this course, you will learn to express and explain the significance of your research to diverse audiences; such as, your peers, committees, or the general, often non-academic, public. You will become familiar with the application of tools that captivate and keep a listener’s attention. Additionally, you will practice presenting your research in an authentic, memorable but truthful manner, fascinating your audience while upholding scientific integrity. The aim of this course is the creation of a personal roadmap of resilience that enhances the feeling of ownership of the story of one’s career.

Own Your Story is a learning-by-doing experience. First, we zoom in on individual needs and share experiences. Next, we exercise integrated communication skills in a playful manner. Then, we create scenarios to affect and change, map biases and potential. The aim of this course is the creation of a personal roadmap of resilience that enhances the feeling of ownership of the story of one’s career.
